Report: Real Madrid in talks to sign Lonnie Walker
The American guard is nearing a final departure from Maccabi Tel Aviv. Los Blancos view him as a missing piece of the puzzle, while the yellow's are already scouting replacements.
Real Madrid is in negotiations to sign Lonnie Walker, reports Spanish journalist Chema de Lucas. According to the report, the Spanish champion is working to acquire the American guard, who played last season for Maccabi Tel Aviv. Real Madrid sees Walker as a significant offensive reinforcement for the backcourt, bringing shooting ability, athleticism, and NBA experience to Pedro Martinez's team.
During the 2025/26 season, Walker appeared in 28 EuroLeague games, averaging 15.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game, with 45.6% shooting from the field and 35.1% from beyond the arc.
As previously reported, Maccabi Tel Aviv is in talks to release Walker even if a destination club is not immediately found. However, if he does sign with Real Madrid, the transition is expected to be much smoother for both parties. Meanwhile, Maccabi is already in the active stages of searching for a replacement, with guard Jahmir Young emerging as a prominent candidate to strengthen the yellow's backcourt.
In the Israeli Premier League, Walker averaged 15.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game across 13 matches.
