Skydance Completes 110 Billion Dollar Acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery
David Ellison and his partners have officially completed the acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery for 110 billion dollars, creating a new media giant under the Skydance banner.

After nearly a year of high-stakes drama, astronomical sums, plot twists, and internal betrayals, it is finally official: David Ellison and his partners have announced the completion of the acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery for 110 billion dollars. So what brands has Ellison acquired, and what comes next?
One Company to Rule Them All
From now on, the keyword is Skydance. This is the name of Ellison's new mega-corporation, which now controls Paramount Pictures and all of Warner's remaining brands, including the Warner Bros. Studio, streaming services HBO Max, Paramount Plus, Pluto TV, and Discovery Plus. If that were not enough, the corporation naturally acquired all of Warner's television operations as well as monster brands like DC Comics, Harry Potter, and all your favorite animated series from Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and more. They are all set to live under one massive corporate umbrella.
The Road to Hollywood Domination
Ellison's journey to conquer Hollywood began in August of last year, when his production company, Skydance Media, merged with legacy Paramount.
At the end of 2025, Ellison attempted to acquire the searching Warner corporation, but initially failed when Netflix announced it had won the battle to acquire Warner for approximately 82.7 billion dollars. However, Paramount announced it would not back down, taking its offer directly to the company's shareholders, thereby bypassing WBD's board and management in a hostile takeover maneuver. Netflix continued to up its bid, but eventually announced its withdrawal from the acquisition race, leaving Skydance victorious.
At the helm of the newly merged company will be Ynon Kreiz, an Israeli-American who led toy giant Mattel for the past eight years and will now join as co-CEO of Skydance. Together, Ellison and Kreiz will attempt to become the first to genuinely challenge Netflix's dominance in the streaming market.
