Sixth foreigner: Hapoel Holon's new forward
Brandon Jones Jr. arrives to the 'purples' after an impressive season at Sporting Lisbon. Coach Predrag Krunić: "He can help the team be more competitive and play team basketball."
Hapoel Holon continues to assemble its roster for the upcoming season and announced today, Saturday, the signing of the team's sixth foreign player: American power forward Brandon Jones Jr. (26, 2.03 m). The player, who held offers from several teams in Israel and Europe, ultimately chose to join the 'purples' project.
Jones Jr. arrives in Holon after a successful season with Sporting Lisbon in Portugal, where he averaged 14.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game in the local league. In the Europe Cup, he contributed 13.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. He began his European career in the Swiss Luleå (recording 18.8 points and 6.8 rebounds), following a college career that included four seasons at Michigan and a final season at VCU (11.6 points per game).
The team's coach, Predrag Krunić, welcomed the signing:
"Brandon is a very mobile player who can play both frontcourt positions. He comes to us with experience from Europe from the last season. With his offensive and defensive skills, he can help the team be more competitive and play team basketball."
Sporting director Daniel Ravitz added:
"Brandon arrives to strengthen the frontcourt positions, to provide versatility and toughness. He is a fantastic defender with an amazing character who puts the team's good before everything else. He made great progress at Sporting Lisbon, and we trust him to continue the line of progress and be a significant player for us as well."
