Seven pistols intended for smuggling into Israel were seized last Thursday near the Jordanian border. During the security operation, a suspect attempting to flee was wounded after forces initiated a standard arrest procedure that included opening fire.
Following intelligence gathered by the Central Unit of the Judea and Samaria District regarding smuggling routes along the eastern border, security forces set up an operational ambush near the Jordan River to thwart the illegal entry of weapons into Israel.
During the operation, forces spotted a suspect armed with a knife. After being wounded, the suspect attempted to flee, prompting a pursuit during which a bag containing seven pistols was recovered. The seized weapons were transferred to the Central Unit of the Judea and Samaria District for further investigation. The police and the IDF stated that security forces will continue to act to prevent weapons smuggling along the eastern border.
