IDF Deploys Paratroopers to Counter West Bank Extremism

The IDF has designated the regular Paratroopers Brigade as a task-oriented unit to counter Jewish terrorism in the West Bank over the upcoming period. According to defense establishment assessments, the hard core of Jewish extremists numbers approximately 200 operatives, with an additional 300 individuals acting as accomplices or sporadic supporters.

The Chief of Staff recently held a special meeting attended by senior police officials, the Shin Bet, the Military Prosecutor's Office, and Central Command commanders. The participants agreed on a series of measures, centered on deploying an additional Border Police company dedicated exclusively to countering Jewish extremist violence.

Shin Bet Deploys Elite Unit Against Radical Activists

Furthermore, the leadership decided to establish a joint operations room integrating the IDF, Shin Bet, and police to maximize intelligence sharing. Shin Bet Director David Zini has decided to deploy the agency's elite operational unit—typically reserved for core Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad activities—against the radical right-wing core in the West Bank.

Shin Bet officials stated that recent intelligence enabled the Judea and Samaria Police District to arrest suspects involved in weekend attacks against an American photographer and European diplomats. Security officials expressed deep frustration regarding government policies that allegedly provide tacit support or tailwinds to radical activists, complicating counter-terrorism efforts.
