Airport Revolution: Israeli Wireless Charging Technology Arrives in Europe
Electreon has signed an agreement to install a wireless charging system for buses at Milan Bergamo Airport, paving the way for cooperation with a manufacturer operating in hundreds of airports worldwide.
Electreon Wireless, a global leader in wireless charging for electric vehicles, reports a strategic step in its global expansion: the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the implementation of a first-of-its-kind wireless charging project at Milan Bergamo Airport in Italy.
The memorandum was signed between Electreon and several key industry entities, including the airport operator SACBO, the international bus manufacturer COBUS, the ground services company BGY, and the Italian distributor Voltaire.
The wireless charging station will be installed in the passenger drop-off area, opposite the terminal entrance. Charging will take place continuously during the ongoing operation of the terminal bus, eliminating the need to take the vehicle out of service for cable charging. The project serves as an initial stage in preparing for the full electrification of operational vehicle fleets at airports.
The combination of Electreon's technology and its partners presents significant commercial potential. COBUS is a key market player with over 5,000 vehicles active in more than 350 airports worldwide.
Airports operate 24/7 and must manage varying levels of activity during peak seasons. Wireless charging allows for full operational continuity without stops for prolonged cable charging.
