About 40,000 condoms of five different types sold in France have been recalled from stores and online sales due to concerns about non-compliance with safety requirements. This was reported on Friday in the French newspaper "Le Parisien". French authorities warned that the products included in the recall should not be used, as they may pose "serious risks to the health and safety of users," including sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies.
According to a statement by the French General Directorate for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) and the Ministry of Health, some of the condoms were removed because they did not bear the European CE safety mark, while other products were found to have defects despite the mark appearing on the packaging. Among the defects found: risk of tearing and the presence of holes in the product.
French authorities recommended that those who used the condoms included in the recall undergo testing for sexually transmitted infections, and in the case of a late period, also take a pregnancy test. Among the products included in the recall: Okamoto, Sagami Original, Friday Bae Safe, and My Lubie models, which were sold, among other places, on websites, in pharmacies, and in stores throughout France. Online platforms in France were required to remove the products from their listings and notify third-party sellers of the recall.
