Raviv Drucker gets hit by a Channel 14 host: "Where does the audacity come from? The people are no suckers"

Dana Varon, host of the Channel 14 morning show, expressed great anger toward journalist Raviv Drucker following an article he published in the newspaper "Haaretz" regarding the 15-point plan published by the "Peace Council." In the newspaper's opinion section, the article was published under the headline: "Yes, we must accept the Peace Council's plan for Gaza, what do we have to lose?"

Among other things, Drucker noted that "it is easy to dismiss the 15-point plan published by the 'Peace Council.' A year of exhausting negotiations has so far yielded mainly flashy declarations: a new Gaza, clean of Hamas rule, with all weapons in the hands of a technocratic government. The key question remains unanswered: what happens first — the Israeli withdrawal or the disarmament of Hamas.

According to the plan, a timetable for implementing the vision will now be set. Within 14 days. This will not happen, unfortunately. There is also a small practical part in the document. The Peace Council demands that the Israeli government return to upholding the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement: stop the targeted killings and bombings, and bring in the quantities of humanitarian aid we committed to."

Dana Varon, who did not connect with Drucker's opinion, expressed sharp criticism of the journalist and Channel 13 host. In a monologue she delivered live, Varon said:

"Raviv Drucker published an opinion piece in the newspaper 'Haaretz' and asked in all seriousness: 'What do we have to lose?' I read it and couldn't believe it. After October 7th, after the massacre, the beheadings, the disaster, the rape, the greatest that has been here since the Holocaust, a journalist in Israel suggests going with the 'Peace Council' that erases the security assets of the State of Israel, and he asks: 'What do we have to lose?'

Tell me, Raviv, are you for real? Go ask the bereaved families what they have to lose, go ask perhaps those who survived the hell in Hamas captivity what we have to lose. Maybe ask the fighters who lost their dear friends in battle what they have to lose, the mothers who don't sleep at night."

The Channel 14 host continued her remarks and addressed the things Drucker wrote in his article in the newspaper "Haaretz": "'We have nothing to lose,' he writes with confidence, and is already ready to give Hamas another chance to rehabilitate, to rearm, to withdraw from the perimeter, to expose us again to the horror that they are certainly preparing for in Gaza. Again the same destructive and detached concept, 'We'll try, at worst we'll return'? Haven't we already seen exactly where this 'at worst we'll return' brought us? Haven't we lost enough? Murder in the kibbutzim, the massacre at the Nova festival, a bloody war — is that what we have to lose? How can one continue to preach the same blindness as if we learned nothing?

Where does this audacity and boldness come from to sacrifice our security again and again on the altar of your experiments? You are sitting again in your air-conditioned studios and offering to sell the blood of the citizens in exchange for some other illusion and attempt at quiet. You wrote, you preached, you failed, and instead of bowing your head in shame, you simply don't learn the lesson. Raviv, we have everything to lose. We have our lives, our security, and the future of our children to lose."

Alongside the criticism she expressed against Drucker, Dana Varon attacked other journalists who support the position of the Channel 13 host and said: "Come on, wake up from your illusions about Arab neighbors who desire life. This people is no longer a sucker, and it will not let you put it to sleep again. Stop promoting lawlessness, the connection between it and reality has never been further. Just because you are detached from the mothership, doesn't mean we are ready to pay again."
