Who moved my sticker? The dispute over a bottle of vodka
Global Spirit, the official importer of Finlandia vodka, has filed a lawsuit against distributor M. Almog Marketing. The plaintiff alleges that the defendant is illegally applying branding stickers to parallel-imported bottles.

How did branding stickers from Global Spirit end up on bottles of Finlandia vodka imported via parallel channels? Global Spirit, the official importer of Finlandia, owned by the Falic family, has filed a lawsuit against M. Almog Marketing, Trade and Distribution, claiming that the latter applies its branding stickers to Finlandia bottles that are not part of its official import stock. It should be noted that Almog is also one of Global Spirit's clients.
A security officer sent by Global Spirit to the Almog store discovered a Global branding sticker applied crookedly over a foreign-language label on one of the bottles. Official Finlandia imports arrive from abroad with a Hebrew back label and without standard foreign-language stickers. Furthermore, the officer observed a roll of original Global Spirit stickers for Finlandia vodka on the premises.
"A roll of the plaintiff's stickers must be held only by the plaintiff, and under no circumstances by any other party, certainly not by a wholesaler of alcoholic beverages. The presence of this roll in the defendant's possession suggests either a roll of counterfeit stickers or original stickers that were stolen or obtained through illegal means," the lawsuit states.
Global Spirit claims this erodes its ability to differentiate official products, deprives it of control over brand representation, and causes financial damage. Additionally, the company argues that Almog's activities could mislead consumers: "It is possible that this is fake vodka, which could cause significant harm to consumers, while the apparent responsibility for the liquid, due to the application of our branding stickers, falls on us."
At this stage, Global Spirit lacks an estimate of the scope of the violations and cannot yet file a financial claim. Therefore, the company is asking the court to order Almog Marketing to submit a report detailing all suppliers and business partners from whom it purchased Finlandia vodka, a list of all customers to whom it supplied the product, and information regarding how the company's branding stickers were obtained. No response was received from Almog Marketing.
