Four arrested on suspicion of organizing cruel dog fights
Four suspects were arrested early this morning in a joint operation by the Judea and Samaria District Police, Border Police (Magav), the IDF, and the Veterinary Service on suspicion of organizing dog fights. Seven dogs were rescued during the raid.
Four suspects were arrested early this morning (Thursday) in a joint operation by the Judea and Samaria District Police, Border Police (Magav), the IDF, and the Veterinary Service on suspicion of managing and organizing cruel dog fights and animal abuse. During the operation, the forces rescued seven dogs that were found bruised and wounded, thereby saving their lives.
The investigation began following information received by the police, alongside monitoring of social media posts that raised suspicions of dog fighting. Investigators from the Crime Fighting Unit (YALAP) of the Samaria District conducted a covert investigation, during which they collected evidence and graphic footage that allowed them to identify those involved.
Among the detainees is a 20-year-old Israeli citizen from Jaljulia, who resides most of the time in Judea and Samaria, alongside three Palestinians aged 27 to 29, residents of Jaba, Burqin, and Sebastia. Upon moving to the overt phase, the forces raided three locations simultaneously. During the searches, seven dogs were found suffering from injuries, and equipment suspected of being used for dog fighting, medications, and other related items were seized.
The dogs were examined on-site by the Ministry of Agriculture's Veterinary Service and were subsequently transferred to quarantine for medical treatment. The suspects were taken for questioning on suspicion of organizing dog fights and violating the Animal Welfare Law. They will later be brought to court for a hearing on the police's request to extend their detention.
