When violence comes from the left, everyone suddenly goes silent and disappears

Once again in our segment: "We are not them and they are not us." This time, extreme left-wing activists arrived at a party headquarters, painted in blood and spreading terror. The current siege is not at a hair salon or in the stairwell of MK Tali Gottlieb, but at the Religious Zionism headquarters in Shoham.

The obvious question, as usual, is: where, for heaven's sake, are all those moving condemnations? Where are Yair Golan, Gadi Eisenkot, and the opposition leaders who lecture us every day about democracy whenever they are horrified by a road blockage? Where are they?

The answer is: they are at home with their feet up, because that is how it is. We all know that when it comes to violence from the "correct" side of the political map, their enlightened shock takes a break. Suddenly there is silence, crickets, and not even a faint tweet for the sake of appearances.

Imagine for a second what would happen if right-wing activists painted their hands with blood and broke into a left-wing party headquarters. The studios would break into special broadcasts, and commentators would scream about the "end of democracy" and "civil war." They would demand immediate arrests and call it dangerous political terror.

But when it happens against Religious Zionism, against those they are accustomed to calling "settlers," it is just a "legitimate protest." After all, it is about "death eaters," those who need to be re-educated, the "delusional and messianic youth." This hypocrisy, which breaks all records, no longer shocks us. We have gotten used to it.

So friends, let's say it again, as if it helps: preaching against violence seven days a week, and on the eighth day closing your eyes to your heart's content, is not okay.

Is there any hope that you will internalize this: violence is violence, and it does not matter at all what sign you held in your hand or what ballot you put in the box to justify it. It is despicable, it is ugly, and above all, it requires the same level of treatment that violence from the right receives.
