Paris Saint-Germain claimed a 2-0 victory over Lyon on Monday in a rescheduled match, reclaiming the top spot in the French league standings. Luis Enrique's side, playing without injured stars Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, struggled for over an hour against a resolute Lyon defense that successfully closed down spaces.

However, the relentless Parisian pressure eventually paid off in the closing stages. Senny Mayulu broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute by unleashing a powerful strike from outside the box into the near corner, beating goalkeeper Dominik Greif. Building on their impressive 4-2 win over Barcelona last week, PSG sealed the three points in the 84th minute through Mika Godts. The Belgian received a precise through ball from Quentin Ngentu, cut inside onto his right foot, and curled a sublime shot into the far corner for his debut goal for the club.

The victory elevates Paris to 17 points, moving them one point ahead of second-placed Rennes. The fixture had been postponed by 24 hours due to security deployments following weekend violence in France and coincided with the Ballon d'Or ceremony.

Following this round, Paris Saint-Germain will face Le Havre on Friday evening as the ninth matchday kicks off.
