A comprehensive check conducted in the internal systems of airlines in Germany revealed a dramatic finding in the development of the investigation: the names of Meli and Liel Yahalomi were located on the passenger list of a Lufthansa flight that took off from Germany to Argentina on Saturday. This information stands behind the official announcement made earlier this evening by the Vienna police. In its statement, the Austrian police updated that the 50-year-old mother and her 23-year-old daughter, who were declared missing in Vienna about a week ago, left the country's borders on their own and of their own volition. It was further clarified that there is no indication of a violent crime or criminal involvement in the circumstances of the disappearance, and it was noted that Israeli and other international security authorities are taking part in the investigation.
At the same time, a report published today in the Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung sheds further light on their exit route: according to the report, Meli and Liel left Vienna via a train that traveled toward Germany, and from there continued outside the borders of the European continent. The report noted that according to information that has not yet been finally verified, the destination was South America. Furthermore, it was claimed in the newspaper that senior Israeli officials and intelligence representatives landed in Vienna with the goal of tracing their footsteps, although in Israel they did not confirm any detail from the report.
The two initially arrived by train to Vienna and stayed in an Airbnb apartment in the city. Last Friday, contact with them was completely cut off, and they did not show up for their scheduled return flight to Ben Gurion Airport. According to reports in the local media, the Vienna police conducted checks in hospitals and held comprehensive internal inquiries, but refrained from opening a public and official search in the absence of a legal basis, due to the fact that these are two adult women.
