A man severely injured in Petah Tikva last week during an apparent robbery gone wrong has died of his injuries, prompting Israel Police to upgrade the investigation to a murder probe. According to police, the hospital failed to report the hospitalization, and officers only discovered the fatality by chance a day later. Investigators swiftly detained a suspect, whose remand has been extended until November 10.

In a separate and unrelated case in the same city days earlier, a 43-year-old woman was found beaten to death with an axe in her apartment on Yosef Sprinzak Street. The husband allegedly murdered her in front of their 14-year-old daughter before fleeing and committing suicide. The couple leaves behind four children, including two elementary school students and a 4-year-old with special needs. Although the family was known to social services, there was no prior record of domestic violence. The teenage daughter initially believed her mother was merely injured, and the children were only informed of both parents' deaths later.

Women's rights organizations and advocacy groups expressed outrage over the surging violence. The Michal Sela Forum stated that the horrific killing underscores the devastating toll of domestic violence, noting that children forced to witness such tragedies suffer lifelong trauma. Meanwhile, Israel Women's Network CEO Tal Hochman sharply criticized politicians, stating that the murder could have been prevented and demanding that authorities prioritize the safety of women and eradicate gender-based violence.
