Pedro Amador to Join Hapoel Be'er Sheva: Medical Tests Scheduled for Tomorrow
Left-back Pedro Amador is set to arrive in Israel within 24 hours to sign with Hapoel Be'er Sheva. Arriving from MLS side Atlanta United, the defender will be unavailable for the Champions League qualifier against Víkingur due to registration rules.
Pedro Amador is expected to land in Israel within the next 24 hours for medical examinations and signing with Hapoel Be'er Sheva, after agreeing on all terms through his agent. The left-back is arriving from MLS side Atlanta United. He has already set off, and after a layover in Portugal, he is expected to fly to Israel to undergo medical tests tomorrow and sign the contract.
Amador will, of course, not be able to assist Hapoel Be'er Sheva in its match against Víkingur on Wednesday as part of the Champions League qualifiers. Participation of a new player in European qualifiers is only permitted if registered before the first of the two matches, and since Hapoel Be'er Sheva already played against Víkingur last week, Amador will not be able to take part in the return leg, which the team must win after losing 2:1 in Iceland.
Regardless, the club will conduct medical tests on the player, especially after his coach in Atlanta noted last week that he was suffering from an Achilles tendon injury. Following checks made with the player and his agent, Amador claimed that he is healthy and does not suffer from any injury.
The defender will replace his compatriot Hélder Lopes at Hapoel Be'er Sheva, following five years in which Lopes was a leading player for the club. The team is also looking to add a center-back in the coming week and is simultaneously working to find a midfield replacement for Kings Kangwa, whose sale to Panathinaikos has been agreed upon.
