The massive offering of the space giant SpaceX has placed it at the center of attention for global financial markets, revealing for the first time in full the ownership structure of one of the most fascinating companies of the modern era. The list of shareholders includes notable names such as billionaire Peter Thiel, Google, and, of course, the owner Elon Musk.
As emerges from a comprehensive analysis published on the economic website 'Investor's Business Daily', absolute control over the company remains in the hands of founder and CEO Elon Musk. He holds approximately 42% of the company's economic capital, but thanks to an unusual share structure, he retains over 80% of the voting power, ensuring him undisputed managerial and strategic control even after the company became public.
Alongside Musk's control, the biggest winners from this move are the technology giants and venture capital funds that bet on the company in its early stages. The most prominent is 'Alphabet', the parent company of Google, which invested in SpaceX back in 2015 alongside 'Fidelity'. Today, it holds an estimated stake of 5% to 7% of the company—a holding worth many tens of billions of dollars.
The merger and the billionaire
Another key player is billionaire Peter Thiel, whose investment fund 'Founders Fund' injected 20 million dollars into the company in 2008 during its most difficult moments following a series of launch failures. It is currently recording a phenomenal historical return of tens of thousands of percent.
The ownership picture of SpaceX took another significant turn following the merger deal with Musk's artificial intelligence venture, xAI. The corporate merger led to xAI investors becoming shareholders in SpaceX and resulted in the chip giant 'Nvidia', alongside international sovereign wealth funds and global institutional investors, also receiving a stake in the company.
