Despite publishing financial reports that were better than forecasts, SpaceX stock recorded a sharp drop of about 8%, a move that surprised quite a few investors. Two investment experts, Violeta Todorova, a research analyst at Leverage Shares, and Sylvia Jablonski, Chief Investment Officer at Defiance, analyzed the market's reaction and explained why the strong data failed to prevent the fall.

According to them, the focus of investors' concern is not the revenue, but the company's massive investment volume. In the last quarter, SpaceX's capital expenditures jumped sixfold compared to the same period last year, totaling more than 18 billion dollars. Of this amount, nearly 16 billion dollars were directed to investments in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), the establishment of data centers, and the expansion of satellite infrastructure.

According to the analysts, investors are no longer satisfied with promises of future growth. Now they demand to see how these huge investments will be translated into actual revenue and profits, and are asking for a clear schedule for realizing the business potential of the AI activity.

Another factor that weighed on the stock is the approaching end of the lock-up period for early shareholders. Starting August 6, more than 900 million shares are expected to be released for trading, which raises concerns about a significant wave of sales that could put additional pressure on the stock price.

At the same time, the analysts note that the satellite internet service Starlink continues to be the company's main source of income. According to them, this activity is what allows SpaceX to finance expensive investments in the fields of space and AI, and it currently constitutes the economic foundation of the company.

They further emphasize that SpaceX is in the midst of a significant transformation. If in the past it was identified mainly with space launches and rocket development, today it is focusing more and more on communication infrastructure, internet services, and AI. The investors' reaction to the reports demonstrates that in today's capital market, even strong financial results are not enough when there are question marks regarding future profitability and the scale of expenses.
