Palestinian UN Resolutions Target Israel as EU Fails to Reach Consensus
Palestinian authorities are advancing anti-Israeli resolutions at the UN General Assembly amid Israel's government formation. Despite a lack of EU consensus, the Palestinian delegation may push for votes, while Israel works to counter the diplomatic push.

As Israel navigates the formation of its new government, Palestinian authorities are advancing a series of anti-Israeli resolutions at the United Nations General Assembly aimed at challenging the nation's international standing. The package of resolutions, slated for votes during the current month, focuses heavily on the repercussions of the Iron Swords war and seeks to cast Israel in a negative light internationally.
Among the measures being promoted are initiatives regarding assistance to Palestinian refugees, the protection of their property and sources of income, and formal condemnations of Israeli settlements in the occupied territories, including East Jerusalem and the Syrian Golan. The drafts also feature a formal rebuke over housing tenders in the E1 area, alongside a novel demand for a UN declaration refusing to recognize the Israeli presence in the West Bank.
Drafts of the resolutions are currently undergoing intensive negotiations between the Palestinian delegation and European Union member states. Following a week of rigorous internal consultations and diplomatic marathons among the 27 EU nations, the bloc failed to reach a consensus on any of the proposed texts. Nevertheless, diplomatic assessments indicate that the Palestinian delegation is unlikely to abandon the initiative and may push for General Assembly votes even without broad European backing.
Meanwhile, Israel’s Permanent Mission to the UN, led by Ambassador Danny Danon, is working behind the scenes to soften the language of the resolutions and minimize the count of supporting nations. Danon stated that Palestinian representatives are attempting to exploit the current situation to challenge Israel on the global stage, emphasizing that the Israeli delegation is cooperating closely with its allies to counter this diplomatic offensive.
