Israel Consultations: Protesters Demand Unity Government as Tensions Rise
Mordechai David warned against a coalition with Arab parties as protests erupted in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv amid President Isaac Herzog's government consultations.

Political tensions surrounding the upcoming government formation peaked on Thursday as Mordechai David released a video from Habima Square in Tel Aviv, flanked by masked activists. Warning against the inclusion of Arab parties in a future coalition, David stated that if a government is formed with the support of what he termed terrorists, the public will take to the streets in mass protests.
The video emerged amidst ongoing consultations held by President Isaac Herzog with parliamentary faction representatives. Earlier in the day, parties including Ra'am and the Joint List recommended tasking Gadi Eisenkot, leader of the Yashar! party, with forming the next government.
Simultaneously, approximately 400 demonstrators gathered outside the President's Residence in Jerusalem on Thursday evening, demanding the establishment of a national unity government. The rally coincided with consultations involving representatives from Yashar! and Likud as Herzog prepares to decide who will receive the mandate.
Protesters from both the change bloc and the Netanyahu bloc called on major party leaders to reach a compromise and prevent another election cycle. Yoav Heller, chairman of the Fourth Quarter movement and one of the rally's organizers, directly urged Benjamin Netanyahu and Gadi Eisenkot to negotiate a coalition.
"Get into a room and give us hope that Israel's problems can be solved through a national unity government," Heller declared, emphasizing that unity has become an urgent imperative following the recent electoral outcomes.
