Oppo Find X9 Ultra: A Premium Flagship with iPhone Ambitions
Oppo has launched the Find X9 Ultra, a 6,000-shekel flagship featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a Hasselblad camera system, and design elements reminiscent of the iPhone.
Chinese smartphones have long moved beyond the 'budget' label, with manufacturers now offering high-end flagship devices. OPPO continues its push into the premium segment with the launch of the Find X9 Ultra, priced at 6,000 shekels. We tested the device, provided by the importer Ronlight.
Structure and Design
The new model is substantial, weighing 235 grams with a 6.82-inch display. The collaboration with Hasselblad is prominent, featuring a large, protruding camera housing on the back.
The design draws clear inspiration from the iPhone, including a customizable action button on the left and a dedicated orange camera control button on the right. This button supports double-press to launch, full-press to capture, and light-press for zoom. Durability is high, with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and IP68/IP69 certification for dust and water resistance.
Hardware
Powered by the fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, the X9 Ultra includes 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The performance is snappy, handling demanding tasks and gaming without overheating. The display is bright and vivid, and the 7,050 mAh battery provides up to two days of use. While it supports 100W fast charging, the charger is not included in the box.
Interface and AI
The phone runs Android 16 with ColorOS 16. It features a 'Dynamic Island'-like interface around the selfie camera for notifications. However, the device comes with a fair amount of bloatware, which is disappointing for a 6,000-shekel device. AI tools like Mind Pilot are available, though Hebrew support remains inconsistent, particularly in transcription accuracy.
Cameras
Photography is the device's standout feature. The system includes a 200 MP main sensor, a 200 MP periscope telephoto (3x zoom), a 50 MP periscope telephoto (10x optical zoom), and a 50 MP ultra-wide lens. Results are excellent in good lighting, and night shots are sharp and well-lit. While digital zoom reaches 120x, image quality suffers significantly at that range despite AI sharpening efforts.
Summary
The Find X9 Ultra is an excellent flagship. However, at 6,000 shekels, it faces stiff competition. Alternatives like the Samsung Galaxy Fold 8 or the iPhone 17 Pro Max are either more versatile or better priced. Given the current market, OPPO will face a difficult challenge in convincing consumers to choose this model over established rivals.
