Only PSG can spoil it: Manu Koné has reached an agreement with Manchester United
The French midfielder has reached an understanding with the Red Devils on his personal terms, but the gap with Roma still stands at about 10 million euros. The French champion may enter the picture.
Manchester United has taken a significant step in its attempt to sign Manu Koné, who was already mentioned earlier this month as one of the primary targets to strengthen the midfield. According to a report published today (Saturday) in 'Corriere dello Sport', the French midfielder has reached an agreement with the Red Devils on his personal terms and is interested in moving to Old Trafford.
As recalled, about ten days ago it was reported in Italy that United is leading the race for Koné after he impressed for the French national team at the World Cup, significantly increasing his value in the transfer market. The same report claimed that Roma is demanding about 60 million euros for the 25-year-old midfielder, who was purchased from Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer of 2024 for about 20 million euros.
According to this morning's report, Koné's personal terms are no longer an obstacle; however, there are still financial gaps between the clubs. Manchester United submitted an offer of 50 million euros, while Roma continues to demand a sum close to 60 million euros and is not prepared to compromise at this stage.
In parallel, 'Il Tempo' reported that if the negotiations between United and Roma hit a dead end, Paris Saint-Germain might try to sign the midfielder. According to the Italian newspaper, Koné dreams of playing for the French champion, and if Paris Saint-Germain decides to meet Roma's demands, he would prefer to join Luis Enrique's team.
Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Atlético Madrid have also been mentioned in recent weeks as candidates to sign Koné, but at this stage, it seems that Manchester United is in the best position to complete the deal.
