US Intelligence Suspects Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Targeted in Chinese Espionage
US intelligence officials suspect Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang had a romantic relationship with a woman allegedly linked to Chinese intelligence, amid broader concerns over advanced microchip exports.

US intelligence officials suspect that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang had a romantic relationship with a Chinese woman allegedly recruited by Beijing's intelligence services, according to a recent report by The New York Times. US government officials prepared a classified memo earlier this year based on intelligence community assessments. The document claims Huang was involved with Alice Huang, a senior executive at Megaspeed, a Singapore-based client of the American semiconductor giant. US intelligence assesses that she was recruited by China's Ministry of State Security.
The memo was circulated among a select group of senior US officials shortly before President Donald Trump's trip to Beijing for a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The White House and the CIA declined to comment. Nvidia did not address the memo or the allegations of an intimate relationship, noting previously that Huang meets with thousands of corporate client executives annually. Photographs and videos showing Huang and the Megaspeed executive together have circulated online, while Alice Huang could not be reached for comment.
Megaspeed is currently under US investigation over suspicions it smuggled advanced Nvidia microchips to China in violation of American export controls. Nvidia previously conducted an internal probe into the allegations, stating it found no evidence of wrongdoing. The disclosure follows a request by senior Republican lawmakers for Huang to participate in a closed-door briefing before House committees on China, foreign affairs, and intelligence, amid rising concerns over technological competition between Washington and Beijing.
National security officials have privately expressed frustration with Huang's lobbying efforts, particularly his push earlier this year to secure permission to export H200 chips to customers in China. Huang has held multiple meetings with Trump since the president assumed office in 2025. Following a mix-up regarding his inclusion on the presidential aircraft during Trump's trip to Asia, Huang joined Air Force One during a stopover in Alaska and later attended a state dinner hosted for Xi in the USA.
