Another delay: American Airlines will not return to Israel before March 2027
American Airlines has extended its suspension of flights to Israel until March 2027. Currently, direct flights to the USA from Ben Gurion Airport are only provided by Israeli carriers.

American Airlines is extending the suspension of flights to Israel until March 2027. The airline, which has not resumed service since October 7, 2023, has postponed its return several times. Although the company previously aimed for a January 2027 return, it has now decided to freeze flights to Ben Gurion Airport through the end of March 2027.
Other major US carriers, United Airlines and Delta, have also yet to return to the country, with their flights suspended until September 2026 and no official announcements regarding a resumption of service. In the absence of American carriers, the supply of flights to the USA remains very limited. At this stage, the only companies operating direct routes from Israel to the USA are El Al and Arkia, with Israir expected to launch a new route to New York in the coming month.
