Emergency response teams managed a mass casualty incident on Israel's northern border on Monday after students on an annual school trip were struck by an explosion. Shlomo Sanof, a paramedic with Magen David Adom, detailed the operational protocols during an interview at the scene.

Upon arrival, first responders encountered a complex blast site featuring multiple casualties with varying degrees of injury, including adolescents and an adult. Large forces, including ambulances and mobile intensive care units, were deployed to the area, alongside military and medical evacuation helicopters.

Triage remains the critical first operational phase in such scenarios. Rescue teams rapidly assess patient status to categorize injuries by severity, ensuring that the most critical patients receive immediate stabilization and prioritized evacuation to medical centers.

Victims sustained blast trauma, pressure wave injuries, shrapnel wounds, and penetrating injuries ranging from mild to severe. Meanwhile, Israel Police Commissioner Danny Levy and Northern District Commander Meir Eliyahu arrived at the scene to receive operational briefings as evacuation efforts concluded.
