12-year-old Noa is fighting a rare cancer: her family needs help to save her
After two years of misdiagnosis, 15 rounds of chemotherapy, and three surgeries, 12-year-old Noa Piruz's disease has spread to her lungs, and doctors in Israel have run out of options. Now, there are only a few days left to fly her for innovative treatment abroad. Her parents state: "We promised we wouldn't give up, we need help."
The Piruz family from Ashdod has been dealing with every parent's worst nightmare over the past year. Noa Piruz, a girl of only 12, is battling cancer.
The struggle began after Noa suffered from leg pain for more than two years, but her parents were told repeatedly that it was just "growing pains." After her parents decided not to wait and took her for a private MRI scan, the difficult news was revealed: Noa has Ewing sarcoma — a cancerous tumor that started in her leg.
10 days to fly for treatment abroad
Since the diagnosis, Noa has undergone a difficult course of treatment that included 15 rounds of chemotherapy and three surgeries. Despite her bravery and the efforts made, the disease did not stop and even spread to her lungs. Doctors in Israel informed the family that the medical community in the country has no further treatments to offer.
Noa's window of opportunity recently reopened when the medical team recommended innovative treatments and groundbreaking research abroad that are precisely suited to her type of disease. However, the time factor is especially critical: the medical staff instructed the family to fly within just 10 days to be able to receive the treatment before it is too late.
Costs of millions of shekels: the family is asking for help
The cost of the treatments, travel, and stay abroad reaches an unprecedented sum of millions of shekels — an amount the family cannot raise on its own. The parents, Tamar and Ori, together with the "Lehoshit Yad" organization, have launched an emergency crowdfunding campaign to save Noa's life.
"I have never asked for help and I am ashamed to ask, but we have no choice, — shared her mother, Tamar. — Noa looked at me and said: "Mom, how lucky I am that you are my mom and you will help me beat this cancer." I promised her that we would not give up."
