Neglecting the danger? The price of silence in the face of the Palestinian deception plan
The US administration is forcing Israel to agree to a withdrawal plan from Gaza that will save Hamas and leave the weapons and power in its hands. Netanyahu agreed to it in exchange for a trip to Washington, and his loyalists in the Likud, the coalition, and the media are silent, endangering the country.

Most amazing of all is the silence in the face of the catastrophe known as the 15-point plan of the Peace Council. A silence that screams from the ranks of the Likud, the coalition, and the journalists loyal to Netanyahu. An almost total silence, instead of a massive protest being heard in the face of the shameful attempt at rape that the US administration is committing against us. Silence in the face of the plot of the "Peace Council" to bring about a total Israeli withdrawal and save Hamas. A plot that must be rejected out of hand, because otherwise we will have no revival.
Only two ministers did not remain silent this week - Orit Strock and Bezalel Smotrich, although for now they have settled for a letter they sent to the Prime Minister, in which they analyzed the catastrophe inherent in the "Peace Council" plan and demanded a reconvening of the cabinet. It is impossible to overstate the degree of danger and the trap in the plan, the dimensions of which are as large as the delusion of the concept led by Trump's people.
The concept was already anchored in the 20-point agreement, which Netanyahu signed about a year ago at the White House, without bothering to convene the cabinet. The continuation of the concept is now pushing to sacrifice the State of Israel for the ego and comfort of the US President.
Everything will be destroyed
But in the 20-point agreement, a threat in itself, there were many holes subject to interpretation, which allowed for a certain Israeli maneuver. Along with them, clause 13 also starred, which nevertheless provided us with the ability to oppose the plan for our total elimination. The clause states that Hamas and its ilk will have no part, direct or indirect, in the government in Gaza, and that all weapons and military infrastructure in Gaza, including the tunnels, "will be destroyed and will not be rebuilt".
Now the PM claims that he will water down and maneuver the plan. But just as it was impossible to water down Oslo, the disengagement, and the suitcases of money, so it is here. There is no alternative to a determined stand against Trump with a clear statement - it will not happen and will not be.
For many months, Hamas and its supporters have been cooking up the deception plan designed to overcome clause 13, because it contradicts the basis of the existence of Hamas and the PA. To the great disappointment, President Trump's envoys are assisting this deception plan with great eagerness.
The goal - to ignore reality and declare that Hamas is meeting the conditions of disarming from power and weapons, and thereby bring about a total Israeli withdrawal and collect coupons from the billions that will be poured into Gaza for reconstruction. And all this despite the fact that Hamas will remain in power, armed and re-established.
This conspiracy plan was published last Friday. In the spirit of the 20-point agreement, it already sets in its first clause the supreme goal - a path to a Palestinian state. The deception inherent in it is quite primitive, easy to refute. Within its framework, a body of technocrats, apparently, was established, which is called the "Committee for the Management of Gaza".
This committee will be declared as the one running the show, so that it can be claimed that the terrorist gangs are no longer in control. The heavy weapons will also be entrusted to the committee - the rockets and launchers that will be stored only in Gaza, and thus salvation will come to Palestine. Brilliant. And beyond that, the Kalashnikovs and the RPGs, everything that starred on October 7, will remain in the hands of the Hamasniks themselves, they don't really kill after all. How low are Trump's people willing to go to present a false picture of success.
In the letter that Strock and Smotrich sent this week, they point to other serious dangers in the plan. For example, the fact that the proposed government in Gaza will be subject to what is called "Palestinian law" - the PA law, according to which the murder of Jews is not terrorism at all, and payments to terrorists for acts of murder are a commandment at all. The letter points to what is clear upon a first reading of the wonderful plan, that it is about setting bluff goals whose entire purpose is to cause the IDF to stop and a total Israeli withdrawal, and to save Hamas.
Netanyahu's fault
Strock and Smotrich demanded in their letter to reconvene the cabinet, arguing that the presentations shown to them at the meeting last Sunday were not correct. Ministers in the cabinet told me this week that Netanyahu and his people simply lied when they presented in the cabinet a picture opposite to what the "Peace Council" plan determines, even though they were well aware of it.
Let's recall - the cabinet was convened in a hurry on the eve of Netanyahu's flight to Washington, in exchange for the plane ticket and the photo opportunities given to Bibi in Washington. The very agreement to receive him at the White House was conditioned on Israeli approval for the entry of an international force into Gaza, as part of the Peace Council's plan, a force that it was clear from the beginning would not fight Hamas, only tie the hands of the IDF.
Thus, Netanyahu's trip to Washington was not only unnecessary but also destructive, because it gave a green light to the monstrous plan that Netanyahu was aware of from the beginning. Now the PM claims that he will water down and maneuver the plan, as is his custom. But just as it was impossible to water down Oslo, the disengagement, and the suitcases of money - so it is here. There is no alternative to a determined stand against Trump with a clear statement - it will not happen and will not be.
As it turned out again this week against Hezbollah, Netanyahu is completely paralyzed. The pardon, the hopes for aid in the election campaign, just panic - everything condemns him to silence in the face of Washington. But Israel must act the opposite: to clarify in a loud voice that the Peace Council does not comply with the 20-point agreement and therefore its plan is rejected entirely. And in the face of the silence of the Likud leaders, all others will be tested. Only those who will scream now at the top of their lungs will be worthy of our vote.
Mount Ebal - since then and forever
By a coincidental match with the weekly Torah portion, the portion of "Re'eh", I visited Mount Ebal for the first time this week. This is the place that was called in the Bible the Mount of the Curse, opposite Mount Gerizim, which rises on the other side of the city of Nablus and is called the Mount of the Blessing. And here, this week, opposite the old and prosperous settlement of Har Bracha on Mount Gerizim, I visited the settlement "fresh from the packaging" that was recently established near the summit of Mount Ebal. The mountain that was inaccessible to Israeli-Jews for decades, until the recent settlement revolution.
But what is no less exciting is a visit to a site that has fascinated me for years, especially since I interviewed the late archaeologist Adam Zertal. It is the Altar of Joshua, located on the northern slopes of Mount Ebal, opposite the Tirzah Valley, where the people of Israel ascended on their way from Egypt to settle in the land. Zertal was a kibbutznik, far from the milieu and views of the "settlers", who conducted an archaeological survey in the northern Samaria more than 40 years ago.
His integrity and professionalism did not allow him to ignore the findings he uncovered on the mountain: the designated structure described in the Bible, the unhewn stones, thousands of bones of kosher animals - Zertal struggled with the riddle and solved it - he found the altar so famous. Among other things, Zertal solved the riddle of the description of the place that commentators had been dealing with for hundreds of years. Because on Mount Ebal one can understand everything: "behind the way of the sunset in the land of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah opposite Gilgal near the oaks of Moreh".
The irrelevant criticism that was raised against Zertal did not succeed in undermining his findings, which give us the most distant greeting from history, our heritage and our right. A message from the 13th century BC, when the people of Israel ascended from Jericho and arrived at the altar on Mount Ebal where it was said - "you are crossing the Jordan to go to possess the land which the Lord your God is giving you, and you shall possess it and dwell in it". And in the face of a world of inventions about Palestine from the sea to the Jordan, there is nothing like a first visit to Mount Ebal, to illustrate whose land it is and to establish that we are here - since then and forever.
