"I cannot wait": Kangwa's first message to Panathinaikos fans
The player of the season in Israel thanked the Panathinaikos fans for their warm welcome and promised to do his best to repay their trust. The midfielder expressed his excitement about joining such a major club.
A few hours after Hapoel Be'er Sheva announced that an agreement had been reached for his sale to Panathinaikos, Kings Kangwa addressed the expected move for the first time today (Friday) and did not hide his excitement for the new chapter in his career.
"I am very happy and excited about my move to a big club like Panathinaikos," the Zambian midfielder said in an interview with SDNA. "I cannot wait to meet my new teammates and start playing for the club."
Kangwa, who is expected to sign a four-year contract, will join the Greek team after Hapoel Be'er Sheva's second-leg match against Víkingur in the second qualifying round of the Champions League. After the match, he will fly to Athens, undergo medical examinations, and officially complete the transfer.
In his first interview after the deal was finalized, Kangwa addressed the Panathinaikos fans:
"I want to thank the fans for the warm words they are saying about me, and promise them that I will give my maximum to repay them for the trust they are placing in me."
Kangwa is concluding a particularly successful two-year tenure at Hapoel Be'er Sheva. In 83 appearances in all competitions, he scored 29 goals and provided 19 assists, helped the team win the championship, the State Cup, and the Champion of Champions, and in the past season was even chosen as the player of the season in the Premier League. Kangwa will now try to help Panathinaikos win its first championship since the 2009/10 season.
