Mother of Fallen Soldier Confronts Netanyahu During Beersheba Visit
Maayan Sherman confronted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Beersheba, blaming him for her son Ron's death in Gaza and demanding a state inquiry commission.
Maayan Sherman, mother of the late Sergeant Ron Sherman—who was abducted from his base on October 7 and died of asphyxiation in Hamas tunnels due to an IDF strike—confronted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his visit to a shopping mall in Beersheba on Wednesday, shouting, "You murdered my child."
Sherman also demanded the establishment of a state commission of inquiry into the failures of October 7. "I came today to meet Netanyahu because for three years he has been running away from me," Sherman stated, accusing the prime minister of abandoning hostages and questioning military decisions.
An IDF investigation previously concluded that Sergeant Ron Sherman, Corporal Nick Beizer, and Elia Toledano, who were abducted to the Gaza Strip on October 7 and whose bodies were recovered in December 2023, suffocated to death due to gas that spread in the tunnel where they were held as a result of an IDF attack.
