Mor Shamli, whose husband was killed in a 2023 terrorist attack in Egypt, was laid to rest in Holon next to him. She passed away at 35 after years of profound trauma.
Mor Shamli, whose husband Alon was killed before her eyes in an October 8, 2023, terrorist attack in Egypt, was laid to rest on Friday at the Holon cemetery. She was buried next to Alon in the October 7 massacre victims' section.
Mor spent the years following the tragedy fighting for her husband to be officially recognized as a victim of the massacre and demanding permission to place a memorial plaque for him in Re'im. Her mother, Shoshi Cohen, delivered a moving eulogy after her father, Ilan, recited the Kaddish prayer with a broken voice.
"I did everything I could to make you stay with us, but I failed," her mother said at the graveside. "Forgive me if I did anything that hurt you. Now is the time to fulfill your legacy, to remember you smiling, to continue traveling and living as a loving family.
Shamli passed away at the age of 35, a week prior, following more than three years of profound grief and suffering. Her parents noted after her passing that she never recovered from the trauma of witnessing her husband's murder, stating that her soul had perished in Egypt alongside him.
