Murder in Beit Shemesh: New details on suspect Liel Ifergan

New details: This morning, Saturday, it was permitted to publish that 26-year-old Liel Ifergan from Beit Shemesh is the suspect in the murder of 7-year-old Hillel Mordechai Dadon (of blessed memory) in an inflatable pool, and in the stabbing of his 4-year-old cousin who sustained serious injuries.

The investigation reveals that the suspect arrived at the apartment where the children were staying hours before the murder, left, and then returned armed with a sharp object. According to police findings, which were previously under a gag order, the suspect arrived in the vicinity of the home several hours before the incident. A brief conversation took place between him and the homeowner, after which he returned to his own residence. Several hours later, he returned to the apartment, where he spotted the minors and stabbed them.

As a result of the attack, 7-year-old Hillel Mordechai Dadon was pronounced dead. Another minor, aged about 4, was evacuated to the hospital in serious condition. Liel Ifergan, who lives in close proximity to the family, was arrested by police officers shortly after the incident and transferred for interrogation at the Jerusalem District Police. At the request of the police, his detention was extended by four days.

"We arrived at a very difficult scene, where a small child lost his life while playing in a pool," said Major Guy Avrahami, Deputy Head of the Investigation Department at the Jerusalem District Police. "At this stage, we are focusing our investigative efforts to understand exactly what the suspect's motive was and what led him to harm the children.
