Murder in Beit Shemesh: Hillel’s uncle, who tried to save him, breaks down at funeral
The father of Ray, the cousin who was seriously wounded in the incident, eulogized his nephew. Amos, Hillel's father, spoke about the suspect: "I didn't know this neighbor, I never saw him." Hillel's mother shared the heartbreaking details of the tragedy.
Seven-year-old Hillel Mordechai Dadon, who was stabbed to death yesterday in Beit Shemesh, was laid to rest. In his eulogy, Hillel’s uncle said: "I wish I could have done more; Hillel was a child of light." Hillel’s mother, Tamar, added: "Hilleli was a charming and happy child with a pure heart who was taken from us."
The mother shared that she initially thought it was a nationalistically motivated terror attack. She recounted: "My brother tried to stop the bleeding for Hillel and didn't realize that his own son was also bleeding from a neck wound." According to Hillel's father, the assailant attacked the two children while they were alone.
The murder on Monday in Beit Shemesh continues to shock the city. The suspect is believed to be a mentally unstable individual who entered the home and also stabbed Hillel’s 4-year-old cousin, who remains in serious condition.
Shlomi, Hillel’s uncle and the father of the wounded child, Ray, said at the funeral: "In your final moments, I was with you; I wish I could have done more. I just hope you felt that I was there. I hope I managed to give you peace, a little security, and happiness. Hillel was a child of light; I pray that you find the strength in faith to continue."
Amos Dadon, Hillel’s father, told N12: "The murderer caught them when they were alone. No one understands exactly what happened there. The police have issued a gag order. I was at work when I received a call from my older son: 'Dad, come quickly.' When I entered the house, I realized the situation was dire. I didn't know this neighbor; I had never seen him before."
