Meta Unveils Meta Charm AI Device and Lightweight 5K VR Glasses
Meta unveiled the Meta Charm AI hardware device and lightweight 5K VR glasses at Meta Connect, outpacing competitors with innovative wearable technology.
Meta has unveiled the Meta Charm, a compact dedicated hardware device designed for its Muse AI agent, stealing a march on competitors like OpenAI. Showcased at the annual Meta Connect developer conference, the device resembles a chunky smartwatch without straps, featuring a large screen, fingerprint reader, microphone, and a small camera. CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted its portability as a keychain accessory that lets users interact with the AI instantly without pulling out a smartphone.
In addition to the Charm, Meta introduced a sweeping lineup of hardware updates, including groundbreaking lightweight VR glasses. Weighing just 100 grams, the Meta VR Glasses feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon Reality Elite processor, 128GB of storage, 128GB of RAM, and a 5K OLED display. Set to launch in the spring starting at $1,299, they offer full access to Meta's app ecosystem at a fraction of competitors' prices.
Meta also refreshed its smart glasses portfolio, introducing the third-generation Ray-Ban Meta with improved battery life, customizable physical buttons, and advanced noise-reduction microphone arrays starting at $449. For privacy-conscious consumers, Meta announced the camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio, weighing only 43 grams with up to 12 hours of battery life, hitting stores on October 13 for $349.
