Meitav Trade Technical Glitch Temporarily Shows Client Balances as Zero
Israel's largest non-banking exchange member Meitav Trade suffered a display glitch showing zero balances on client accounts. The company confirmed that no assets were affected and the system has returned to normal operations.

Clients of Meitav Trade, Israel's largest non-banking member of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, experienced a technical glitch upon logging into their trading platforms, with account balances and portfolio values temporarily displaying as zero.
The company announced that the issue was a display-only technical glitch caused during a routine data update and reconciliation process over the weekend. Meitav Trade emphasized that client funds and securities were never compromised. The issue was resolved, and the system returned to normal operations during the morning hours.
Rapid Growth and System Pressures
Meitav Trade is the largest stock exchange member in Israel by client volume. By the end of March, the firm serviced 123.5 thousand accounts, growing 1.6% to 125.5 thousand by the end of April. In the first quarter of 2026, the company added 9,700 new accounts, following a 30% surge in its client base throughout 2025.
This rapid migration of retail investors from traditional banks to investment houses—driven by significantly lower transaction fees—has tested the technological infrastructure of Israeli brokers. Meitav Trade is not alone in facing these challenges:
-
In March, trading systems of IBI Trade and Psagot Trade froze for several hours, preventing tens of thousands of clients from executing orders.
-
In June, the Blink trading app went offline for an hour at the opening of the Wall Street trading session.
-
In March 2025, a major communication failure disabled the trading systems of both Meitav Trade and IBI for hours, triggering class-action lawsuits from investors claiming financial losses.
Official Response
In a direct message to its users, Meitav Trade stated:
"Following the technical issue, your portfolio balance and/or value may have been displayed as 0. We emphasize that this was strictly a display issue, and funds and securities in your accounts were not affected. The issue has been resolved, and the system returned to normal operation. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."
Speaking to Calcalist, Meitav Trade added that the glitch involved the display of security prices, was quickly resolved, and occurred on a non-trading day, minimizing direct market impact.
