Reuven Abelgon, former head of the Hostages Families Headquarters, is launching a new investment fund named Tavor Capital Partners, targeting a fundraising goal of 200 million shekels. According to details obtained by Calcalist, the fund will focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within industry, energy, agriculture, food, logistics, waste and recycling, business services, and retail.

Investment Strategy and Targets

The fund targets companies generating annual revenues of 80 million shekels and above, with a minimum EBITDA of 10 million shekels. Presentations to institutional entities highlight sectors such as kibbutz enterprises, family-owned businesses facing generational transition challenges, and other private firms. Tavor Capital Partners plans to take an active management role, improving corporate governance and financial reporting practices, with investment sizes reaching approximately 60 million shekels per company.

"The fund aims to bridge the gap for traditional mid-market companies seeking operational enhancement and active governance," market sources noted.

Leadership and Pipeline

Abelgon's partner in the venture is David Friedman, former economic department manager at KPMG and recent CEO of Dor Chemicals. The fundraising targets 200 million shekels, with the first closing expected to reach half that amount. The fund already holds positive indications for 80 million shekels in investments and is actively reviewing two initial transactions in the crane and packaging sectors.
