Mauro Camoranesi fired from AEK Larnaca two weeks after elimination by Beitar

The coach, who was appointed only in June, ended his tenure even before the start of the league in Cyprus. The change on the sidelines may also affect the status of Yahav Gurfinkel.

Just two weeks after the elimination against Beitar Jerusalem in the Conference League qualifiers, Mauro Camoranesi has ended his tenure as coach of AEK Larnaca. The Cypriot club officially announced the separation this morning (Friday).

"AEK Larnaca announces the end of the cooperation with the football team's coach, Mauro Camoranesi," the club's statement read. "We thank him for his services and contribution to the team and wish him great success in his future personal and professional path."

Camoranesi, who was appointed in June, stood on the sidelines during the two matches against Beitar Jerusalem in the Conference League qualifiers, at the end of which AEK was eliminated from the European competition. Now, only a short time after that disappointment, the Cypriot club decided to make a change on the sidelines and part ways with him even before the first round of the league.

It will be interesting to see how the change will affect the status of defender Yahav Gurfinkel, who was not in the plans so far and was even linked with a possible return to Hapoel Tel Aviv.
