Mate Security Raises $35 Million from Microsoft Eight Months After Seed Round
Cybersecurity firm Mate Security has raised $35 million in a Series A round led by Canaan Partners and Microsoft's M12 fund. The company's total funding has now surpassed $50 million.

The cybersecurity company Mate Security has raised $35 million in a Series A round, led by Canaan Partners and Microsoft's M12 fund, with the participation of existing investors Insight Partners and Team8. The round was completed just eight months after the company first revealed itself with a $15.5 million seed round, bringing the company's total funding to over $50 million.
Mate was founded in 2025 by Asaf Weiner, CEO, Oren Saban, CPO, and Guy Pergel, CTO. The company's team includes alumni of Wiz, Axonius, Meta, and Microsoft, and combines expertise in the fields of AI and cybersecurity. Team members include veterans of Unit 8200 and graduates of the Weizmann Institute, the Technion, and Cornell University. The company employs 50 people, 40 of whom are employed in Israel and the rest in the USA. The company stated that the funding round comes as an increasing number of organizations, including Fortune 500 companies, are choosing the Mate platform. Since the third quarter of 2025, the company has grown by more than 500%.
In a conversation with Calcalist, Asaf Weiner, CEO and co-founder of Mate Security, says:
"The security officer in an organization needs AI agent investigations of a very high quality. He needs to trust them to investigate security issues. The second metric is the ability to withstand changes and support them in the best way, and we know how to bring them. We see this in our revenues, which have grown by 500%, and that is the reason for the fundraising - to meet the demand of the customers. Today, significant capital is needed to grow in terms of sales staff, support staff, and additional research and development employees."
"Since we entered the market 8 months ago, we have launched our content product and investigation product, and we are getting closer to the data and making it accessible for agents to work directly with the data in its various sources," says Asaf Weiner. "Our focus is on the United States, and we see a growing need for a solution like ours in the Fortune 500. We would like to see growth and a doubling of the number of employees by the end of the year and even more than that. The connection with Microsoft will give us not only an investment but also a business partnership and a connection to the company's advanced models. It is a nice closing of a circle for us, as we all come from there."
Mate is dealing with one of the central challenges in the cyber world: existing security arrays were not designed to deal with the pace and dynamics of attacks in the AI era. However, many organizations are still afraid to integrate AI solutions into sensitive systems like cybersecurity infrastructures. Mate solves the challenge through an open platform for agentic security operations, designed to allow organizations to identify and contain attacks at the pace of the AI era, where the attack time is shortened to a few minutes.
The platform was built to earn the trust required for broad operation in sensitive systems. At the core of the platform is a context layer that is in the process of patent registration and builds a kind of "organizational brain" for the organization. The layer centralizes knowledge about how the organization operates to improve the accuracy of the agents, and on top of it, dedicated agents operate for identification, investigation, response, and proactive threat hunting.
The "organizational brain" concentrates the accumulated knowledge of an experienced cyber defense team and develops a deep understanding of how the organization operates. This knowledge allows the system to make accurate and fast decisions. For example, when an alert is received about suspicious login attempts to the system, it can identify that a security check was scheduled at that time and assess that it is likely a non-dangerous event. In another case, if an employee downloads a large number of files, the system knows the organizational context and knows that the employee is expected to leave the company next week and that these are sensitive business documents, and therefore can mark the activity as suspicious.
The Mate platform concentrates the client's business knowledge in one infrastructure, unifies information from various sources, resolves contradictions, and keeps the knowledge updated within a Security Context Graph. A central agent manages and coordinates the activity of agents from a variety of sources: Mate agents, agents of other vendors, and agents developed by the client, so that they all operate based on the same organizational context. The system manages their activity according to common authorization and control rules and documents their decisions and the actions they have taken. As the system proves itself, it is possible to gradually expand the actions that agents are allowed to perform on their own to fix and respond. The agents also check the evidence in the organization's source systems, without creating a separate system of knowledge, permissions, and decision-making for each agent.
