Puppet Masters: The Dark Side of the Hamas Agreement Revealed

In recent days, the "second phase" formula for an arrangement in the Gaza Strip has burst into our consciousness — the introduction of a Palestinian "technocratic national committee," backed by festive documents in diplomatic English that promise the demilitarization of the Strip. A cold and sober look behind the smoke screen reveals that this is merely another chapter in the strategic conspiracy of a gang of regional states (Qatar, Turkey, Egypt) with the active encouragement of Saudi Arabia, whose central goal is to sabotage the American vision for a new regional order. This axis is acting in practice to prevent the defeat of terror, to preserve by any means the Palestinian conflict issue, which is the key to maintaining the old order, and to stall for time until the end of Donald Trump's term, in anticipation of a "more comfortable" president afterward.

The Peace Council's announcement from the last day, which effectively repeats what is written in Donald Trump's plan, according to which there will be no Israeli withdrawal until full demilitarization of the Strip, has for the time being blocked the new formula that the gang tried to implement.

What was in this formula:

1. No dismantling — only "storage": senior Hamas officials have openly clarified that the organization is not handing over or destroying its weapons, but agrees at most to "depositing and storage."

2. Leaving light weapons: focusing at most on cataloging or neutralizing some heavy weapons. Light weapons — Kalashnikov rifles, pistols, and grenade launchers — are intended to remain in the hands of the operatives under the guise of "civilian police" or "personal security." It is mandatory to mention that October 7 was carried out by thousands of terrorists armed with Kalashnikov rifles, grenades, and RPG launchers. It is clear what the meaning of leaving light weapons is (also for the public in Gaza).

3. Actual control through an extensive and convoluted bureaucratic mechanism of Hamas personnel in all branches of the technocratic government — from municipalities to hospitals and economic companies.

In fact, if we examine it carefully, we will discover that the gang of states' trick tried, again, to copy one-to-one the "Lebanon model" to the Gaza Strip: a weak technocratic government similar to the government in Beirut, and an international stabilization force similar to UNIFIL. In fact, this was an attempt to pull the wool over the eyes of the USA and plant in Gaza a Hezbollah 2.0 model on Israel's southern border.

All arenas, one strategy: from Tehran to Beirut

The latest trick that the "old order" gang tried to implement in the Gaza Strip does not stand alone. A slight examination shows that it is part of the same regional strategy of the Qatar-Turkey-Egypt axis and also Saudi Arabia:

1. Repeated containment of attacks in Iran: those same countries act incessantly to contain and delay attacks against Iran's nuclear and terror infrastructure, with the goal of buying time for Tehran and ensuring the survival of the Ayatollah regime.

2. Attempts to expand influence: in Syria, in Iraq, and now Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish Foreign Ministry are trying to intervene as mediators in Lebanon, with the goal of ensuring the preservation of the mechanism that will allow Hezbollah to rehabilitate its power.

3. Drafting working papers that sound good in English for the West, but in Arabic promise the radical currents the preservation of the "resistance" and its continuity.

What has changed in Gaza?

The trick completely ignored several things:

1. The change on the Gazan street: even among parts of the population that still ideologically support the "resistance," the routine of life and daily survival have pushed aside part of the ideology. According to recent polls, the public is tired of Hamas rule and expresses a growing willingness to emigrate outside the Strip. Re-binding this population under a whitewashed puppet government in an area unfit for living is a crime against the residents themselves and the opposite of liberal Western ideals.

2. The Gaza Strip is currently a contaminated site full of ruins and tunnels. It is impossible to rehabilitate water, electricity, and sewage infrastructure when two million people are crowded into tent camps at the construction sites themselves. Rehabilitation of the Strip objectively requires physical evacuation and removal of the population from the destruction zones.

Recommendations for Israel

Apparently, in the Peace Council's statement that blocked the "old order" gang's trick, the achievement was reached. However, it would be a mistake to look at this attempt in a narrow, Gazan perspective only. The war as a whole is lengthening, also on the Iranian front, due to similar attempts by the gang to sabotage again and again the war effort and, more importantly, the vision for a new regional order of the USA.

It is time for the USA to recognize this, and for Israel to start talking about it before government officials. It is possible to use the latest trick as a representative example, and as a lever to stop the show. It may be correct to ask the Donald Trump administration to stop using the mediation of countries that tried to legitimize the abomination of the disguised Hamas rule, and were partners in this trick also against the USA.

At the same time, it is correct for Israel to act to replace the existing mediators with mediators from countries with a real interest in eradicating radical Islam and establishing a new regional order: India, the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Greece. Precisely the latest trick can serve as a lever in Israel's hands to renew the demand for the exile of the Hamas leadership (similar to the PLO Beirut 1982 model), and for voicing the Gazan voice in a clear campaign whose subject is pressure for controlled exit and voluntary emigration of residents to host countries.
