Maccabi Tel Aviv Held to Dramatic 2:2 Draw by Petah Tikva
Maccabi Tel Aviv was held to a dramatic 2:2 draw at home by Maccabi Petah Tikva after former player Eitan Tibi scored a stoppage-time equalizer, missing a chance to pull away at the top of the table.

Maccabi Tel Aviv missed an opportunity to secure top spot ahead of the international break, being held to a dramatic 2:2 draw at home by Maccabi Petah Tikva on Friday. Ester Sokler thought he had secured a victory for the hosts in the 90th minute, but former Maccabi player Eitan Tibi stunned Bloomfield Stadium by equalizing in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
Maccabi Tel Aviv head coach Kenny Miller expressed deep frustration after the match. "It is a huge disappointment, especially when we drop points at home," Miller said. "When you take the lead in the 90th minute and concede in stoppage time, it hurts a lot. You cannot let a lead slip away at that stage of the game." During the match, Osher Davida picked up an injury and was forced off, while Mohamed Ali Camara was booed by sections of the home crowd.
Maccabi Petah Tikva coach Ziv Arie was visibly relieved and pleased with his young side's resilience. Arie praised 39-year-old veteran Eitan Tibi for his leadership and passion. "I was worried about him today because he is not young and we had to let him recover, but his leadership, commitment, and passion at 39 are remarkable. He has soul and he helps us a great deal," Arie noted.
Young goalkeeper Dor Havron, who started for Maccabi Petah Tikva, reflected on the hard-fought point. "This is the fourth game we play against a top team just the way we train, so I am very happy with this point. You need a goalkeeper against big teams, you need character, and I am glad it worked out today," Havron said. The draw leaves Maccabi Tel Aviv atop the table with 24 points, though Hapoel Beer Sheva and Hapoel Tel Aviv could overtake them following their upcoming clash.
