Crystal Palace Star Anan Khalaili Resists Pressure to Quit Israel Team
Crystal Palace forward Anan Khalaili is facing severe online harassment and pressure from the Arab world demanding he quit the Israeli national team, though he remains committed to playing.

Anan Khalaili is facing intense pressure from various figures in the Arab world demanding that he quit the Israeli national team. The pressure has escalated significantly following his transfer to Crystal Palace, including a barrage of hate messages on social media and directly to his personal phone.
During the recent UEFA Nations League window, national team coach Ran Ben Shimon and Israel Football Association officials held talks with the player to offer support after he appeared withdrawn and distressed by the ordeal. A senior football association official described the situation, stating that Khalaili goes through a continuous nightmare whenever he joins the national team, enduring relentless abuse, curses, and demands to resign.
The harassment began during his stint at Union Saint-Gilloise and worsened after his move to England. A major broadcaster in the Arab world even refused to mention his name on air until the association formally intervened. Despite the mounting pressure, Khalaili has made it clear to team officials that he has no intention of retiring, continuing to report for international duty while taking care not to post national team symbols on his social media accounts.
