Maccabi Tel Aviv announced on Friday evening that it is suspending ticket sales for the home match against CSKA Sofia next Thursday (19:00, Sport1) in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.
In an official statement, the club noted:
"Following the disciplinary proceedings opened by UEFA against Maccabi Tel Aviv regarding the use of pyrotechnic devices during yesterday's home match in the Europa League qualifiers against Sheriff Tiraspol, the club received an instruction this afternoon from UEFA to suspend all ticket sales for the home match in the third qualifying round until the completion of the disciplinary proceedings. The club is cooperating fully with UEFA and will update the fans immediately upon receiving a decision regarding ticket sales."
Yesterday, Maccabi Tel Aviv hosted Sheriff in Batumi, Georgia, winning 1:0 in the second leg following a 5:0 victory in the first match in Moldova. Flares and other pyrotechnic devices were lit in the stands, an incident noted in the observer's report submitted to UEFA.
