The Central District Court in Lod has sentenced Maxim Sabag to 10 years in prison, a 20-year driving ban, and ordered him to pay 100,000 shekels in compensation to the family of Vladimir Dudonchenko. Following a full trial, Sabag was convicted of reckless homicide in the fatal crash that claimed Dudonchenko's life.

According to the verdict delivered by Judge Efrat Fink, the defendant was driving on Highway 6 under the influence of cocaine and alcohol. At a certain point, Sabag executed a U-turn within the lane and drove against traffic until he collided head-on with the victim's vehicle, resulting in his death. The court dismissed defense arguments claiming that the blood sample containing cocaine was contaminated or did not belong to the defendant, as well as claims that his actions stemmed from post-traumatic stress or narcotic medications.

Marina Dudonchenko, the victim's partner, testified during the sentencing phase about the devastating impact of the tragedy. She described Dudonchenko as a devoted partner who brought joy to their lives and handled daily household responsibilities. She noted that the defendant never apologized and emphasized the lasting psychological toll on her family, stating that her daughter remains terrified of traveling by car.

In delivering the sentence, Judge Fink highlighted the severity of the offense and the defendant's extensive criminal and traffic record, which includes dozens of prior convictions for drug offenses, violence, and reckless driving. Despite his personal medical circumstances, the court prioritized public deterrence and the sanctity of life, handing down a severe custodial sentence.
