Likud Slate Holds First Campaign Meeting With Netanyahu Ahead of 2026 Elections
«Ликуд» candidates meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu near Petah Tikva to launch their election campaign, set regional roles, and enforce strict discipline amid internal discontent over reserved slots.
Members of the «Ликуд» electoral list are meeting today, Thursday, at 12:00 for their first working session with Prime Minister Биньямин Нетаниягу and the campaign team ahead of the upcoming election race. The meeting, expected to take place in the Петах-Тиква area, marks the first formal gathering of the newly formed slate with Нетаниягу following the finalization of the list, including reserved slots.
During the session, list members are slated to receive a briefing on «Ликуд»’s campaign preparations, along with refined messaging for the election cycle. Additionally, roles will be distributed among candidates, defining their areas of responsibility across the country and the specific regions each will oversee. Members are also expected to receive guidance on voter mapping tools and campaign logistics.
Нетаниягу is expected to urge MKs to strictly adhere to the party's messaging and maintain campaign discipline. Furthermore, he plans to divide the lawmakers by their places of residence, assigning them regional oversight responsibilities for the campaign.
Against the backdrop of the meeting, discontent persists among party members and activists who were left off the realistic slots on the list. Anger is directed, among other things, at some of Нетаниягу’s reserved slots, which party sources view as unlikely to bring significant votes or as lacking sufficient parliamentary experience and proven outreach to the electorate. Alongside official campaign preparations, «Ликуд» must now work to mend internal rifts and transform the slate into a unified electoral machine.
