Identification of a suspicious object in the air triggered IDF forces in the Gaza envelope — it turned out to be a false alarm

The IDF ordered residents of Nir Yitzhak to enter protected spaces following the identification of a suspicious aerial target, later updating that it was a false alarm. Earlier, Benjamin Netanyahu warned Hamas that if launches from the Gaza Strip do not stop immediately, the IDF will increase targeted strikes against those responsible for them.

A false alarm in the Gaza envelope triggered IDF forces: following fears of an infiltration in the Nir Yitzhak area, residents were instructed to enter protected spaces. After checks, the IDF updated that the threat had been removed.

In a statement by the Home Front Command on the matter, it was written:

"Good evening, in the last half hour an unclassified aerial target was identified in the area of the community of Sufa. The incident is closed due to loss of contact. The incident is being investigated."

Meanwhile, earlier this evening, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz held a situation assessment regarding the threat of drone, balloon, and kite launches from the Gaza Strip toward Israel. The Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, the head of the National Security Council, and senior IDF officials participated in the discussion.

In the statement published by the Prime Minister's Office, it was written:

"Israel warns Hamas that if the launches toward Israel do not stop immediately, the IDF will act to increase targeted strikes against those responsible for the launches and will evacuate the population from areas from which kites, drones, and balloons are launched."

The Prime Minister made it clear that we will not return to the reality that existed before October 7. Israel will not allow the terrorist organization Hamas or any other entity in the Gaza Strip to return to threatening our communities and undermining the sense of security of our citizens.
