A dinner for two is an opportunity not only to celebrate love, but also to dedicate thought to food that improves mood, increases energy, and contributes to a romantic atmosphere. You may not know it, but hidden right under our noses are foods containing natural components that strengthen the body, support the nervous system and vitality — all while enjoying a meal. So where to start? Here are 5 foods you should include in your romantic evening menu:

  • Dark chocolate. Why it is important: rich in magnesium, which helps with muscle relaxation and stress reduction. In addition, the cocoa in it contributes to a sense of calm and mood improvement, thanks to natural components that encourage serotonin secretion. Recommended amount: between 2 and 4 squares after the meal.

  • Avocado. Why it is important: rich in vitamin E, potassium, and folic acid. The healthy fats in it contribute to hormonal balance and good blood flow, vitamin E acts as an antioxidant, and the fiber supports proper digestion. Recommended amount: half an avocado in a salad for two.

  • Fish rich in omega-3. Why it is important: salmon is rich in protein and omega-3, thereby improving brain and nervous system function, reducing inflammation, and helping to maintain a stable mood and good energy. Recommended amount: a personal portion of 150–200 grams of baked fish with vegetables.

  • Berries. Why they are important: rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. Vitamin C strengthens the immune system and refreshes, while antioxidants protect blood vessels and support energy and vitality. Recommended amount: a cup of berries (about 100 grams) as part of a salad or in a dessert.

  • Nuts. Why they are important: rich in magnesium, zinc, and B-group vitamins. Magnesium helps reduce stress, zinc is important for hormone production and the immune system, and omega-3 contributes to blood vessel health. Recommended amount: a handful of nuts (about 30 grams) as part of a salad or alongside a dessert.
