Son of Israeli US Ambassador Seriously Injured in West Bank Ramming Attack

Neria Leiter, the son of Israeli Ambassador to the United States Dr. Yechiel Leiter, was seriously injured on Wednesday in a ramming attack on Route 443 near Beit Horon. Neria, serving in a Judea and Samaria District police vehicle alongside a female officer as part of a joint police and IDF operation, was intentionally rammed by a terrorist. Security forces at the scene shot and neutralized the attacker.

Medical Response and Evacuation

Magen David Adom (MDA) teams and an IDF medical force provided life-saving treatment at the scene. He was subsequently evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center suffering from severe head injuries.

The attack follows a series of recent security incidents in the West Bank. Earlier on Wednesday, an attempted ramming occurred in the southern Hebron Hills when Palestinians in a vehicle tried to run over a farm owner, who responded by gunfire and wounded one of the assailants.

A Family's Heavy Toll

For the Leiter family, this severe injury comes less than three years after losing their eldest son, Maj. (res.) Moshe Yedidiah Leiter, who fell in combat in the Gaza Strip on November 10, 2023, during Operation Iron Swords.

"The blood of my son was not spilled in vain," Dr. Yechiel Leiter told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following his son's death.

Moshe Leiter, a 39-year-old company commander in the 551st Brigade, was killed alongside three other soldiers when an explosive device detonated at a tunnel shaft in Beit Hanoun. In October 2025, during a visit to the Knesset, US President Donald Trump remarked to Ambassador Leiter that his late son is "looking down at you and smiling."
