Jerusalem Light Rail suspends service at two stations for testing
The Jerusalem Light Rail has announced a temporary suspension of train service between the Central Bus Station and HaDavidka station today from 17:00 to 20:00. The pause is required to conduct test runs ahead of the upcoming L3 line opening.
The public transport revolution in Israel has long since turned from a distant vision into a daily reality that is changing the urban landscape. Light rail trains are increasingly taking their place as the main lifeline of the city.
However, the Jerusalem Light Rail announced that this evening (Monday, 27.7) from 17:00 until 20:00, train operations between the Central Bus Station and the HaDavidka station will be suspended. According to the company, the planned suspension is due to the need to conduct test runs ahead of the opening of the L3 line.
The railway emphasized that train traffic will return to normal operation starting at 20:00.
As recalled, across the Gush Dan area, residents are also eagerly awaiting the new light rail lines expected to significantly shorten travel times and improve accessibility to major cities. Work on the Purple and Green lines is in full swing, and the Tel Aviv Municipality has sent a special update to residents:
"The work is still ongoing, but the picture is already clear: Tel Aviv-Yafo is advancing towards a broader, more efficient, and better-connected public transport system."
Last week, the National Infrastructure Committee approved the advancement of the project to extend the Metro line to the Eastern Railway. The extension will reach the central railway and will be accessible in Kfar Saba, Samaria, and the northeast of the Tel Aviv metropolitan area. The section, spanning about 2.5 kilometers, is expected to add two new stations to the Metro network.
