The 16-year-old's terror journey: Flight mode, a knife, and a long trek through the mountains
The teenager left home under the guise of attending math tutoring. Upon reaching the settlement gate, he abandoned his plan and hid the knife under a bench. He was detained by a local resident and military personnel on suspicion of trespassing.
Two weeks after the arrest of a 16-year-old Palestinian terrorist, a resident of the village of Nahalin, the military prosecution has filed an indictment against him. The charges involve a serious attempt to carry out a terror attack.
Police investigations revealed that on July 11, the teenager set out toward a Jewish settlement with the intent to commit a stabbing attack. He told his mother he was going to a math tutoring session, took a knife from his garden, and placed his mobile device in flight mode to prevent tracking. He carried 20 shekels with him.
According to his testimony, he purchased cigarettes and a lighter before heading toward the settlement of Neve Daniel. He trekked through mountains and agricultural land for several hours until nightfall.
Upon reaching the settlement perimeter, he decided to abandon the attack. He walked to a nearby iron bench and hid the knife underneath it. Shortly thereafter, he was detained by a local resident and a military unit on suspicion of entering a prohibited area.
Following the conclusion of the investigation, the military prosecution charged him with preparation for intentional homicide, possession of a knife, and violating a closed-area order.
