A Syrian military delegation recently held consultations in Saudi Arabia regarding the deployment of fighters, Yemeni intelligence sources told the newspaper Al-Akhbar.

The delegation discussed arrangements for transferring up to 10,000 Syrian fighters to participate in the campaign against the Houthis, according to the sources. The government of Ahmed al-Sharaa previously denied intentions to send thousands of gunmen to southern Saudi Arabia.

The delegation visited the Najran and Asir regions in the southern kingdom alongside the talks. The sources stated that the delegation was led by Khaled Khattab and Haitham al-Ali.

Al-Ali held meetings with Saudi officials in Riyadh to discuss transport costs, financial arrangements, and military missions. Meanwhile, dozens of Syrian drone instructors will reportedly be stationed in southern Saudi Arabia and eastern Yemen.
