Pakistani Defense Minister: "We are close to an arrangement between the US and Iran"

The Defense Minister of Pakistan stated this afternoon to Bloomberg that "the signs in the last two or three days indicate that we are close to some kind of arrangement between the US and Iran. Things are moving in the direction of peace." Earlier, the spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majed Al-Ansari, published a statement noting that negotiations between Iran and Oman are at an advanced stage and that Qatar has received positive feedback from both countries.

Yesterday, US President Donald Trump responded to the Iranian demand for compensation for war damages, writing on his social network, Truth:

"I see that the representatives of the Islamic Republic are asking for compensation for the damage caused in the last five months, although this was never mentioned in any of our conversations or meetings! But it is an interesting idea, because now I am also demanding compensation from Iran for all the people they killed and seriously wounded. I have instructed my representatives to firmly include this in any future negotiations."

President Trump further demanded compensation for numerous conflicts under the leadership of General Soleimani, including for the families of those killed on the warship Cole, as well as for the hundreds of thousands of innocent protesters killed by Iran over the last fifty years.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump is preparing to declare victory in the war with Iran should an agreement be signed with Oman, potentially ending the war without a nuclear deal. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told the news agency "Mehr" that there are no direct talks with the US and that the agreement regarding the Strait of Hormuz is in the "final stages" but will not immediately reopen the waterway.

This morning, the Washington Post reported on a secret operation conducted last month due to an assassination threat against the President. During the NATO summit in Ankara, Donald Trump used the presidential plane as a "decoy," secretly transferring to a backup aircraft via a food service truck. The mission was so sensitive that even some White House staff members were unaware, believing they were flying on the same plane as the President.
