Minister Katz: "We want to strike Iran, but the US does not approve"
Defense Minister Israel Katz, in an interview with Channel 14, discussed the meeting between Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu, noting that US interests in Iran do not always align with Israel's. Katz emphasized Israel's readiness to respond with full force if attacked.
Minister of Defense Israel Katz addressed today (Tuesday), in an interview with Noam Amir at the 14th Channel Security Conference, the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington. He clarified that "the US has interests in Iran that go beyond those of Israel."
Katz described Israel's achievements against Iran: "The arrogant empire that threatened to destroy Israel has collapsed." He emphasized: "We have announced in the clearest way: if they fire at Israel, we will attack with full force. We are prepared to strike Iran in blue and white."
When asked if Israel would respond to the UAV launched earlier today from Iraq and intercepted at the Jordanian border, he replied: "We know how to manage matters – we are prepared."
Katz added that Trump "understands that Israel will not withdraw from the buffer zones in Lebanon, Gaza, and Syria." He recounted: "I visited Gaza a week ago – there are still huge tunnels there." Regarding the possibility of establishing Nahal nuclei in the Strip before the elections, he said: "The right timing will be the moment it is declared that Hamas has not complied with the agreement."
Towards the end of the interview, Minister Katz warned against Turkey: "The Muslim Brotherhood axis could be very dangerous. We are responsible for protecting our interests. I suggest to Erdogan not to mess with us."
